IMDB rating: 6.10 Plot: Billy Madison is a non-working, non-educated slacker who lives entirely off his dad. He spends his day drinking beer, reading girly magazines, and hanging out by the pool. When his father realizes that Billy is unfit to run the family business, Billy decides that he must go back to school and earn a real education. He figures it will be no problem going back to high school and learning over again, until he learns that his father bought Billy’s passing grades all the way back in elementary school. Thus, Billy must return to elementary school and pass each grade one at a time in a short time, or else he loses his place as heir to the company. In addition, Billy tries to win the hand of Veronica, a sexy school teacher who thinks her students are more mature than Billy. |

Decisions, decisions. I liked him a lot in "Funny People," but I suspect you would not consider that a classic "Adam Sandler" movie. He was excellent too in "Punch Drunk Love," but that movie was even more dramatic and satisfying.
My favorite would have to be the "The Wedding Singer," with Drew Barrymore. It explores a few time honored American themes in a fresh and funny way. But even beyond the considerable funniness is the fact that Barrymore and Sandler worked so well together. There were so few satisfying couple combinations in the movies then (and today) that I felt it made the movie more enjoyable and more likely to stand the test of time.
By which I mean the movie "The Wedding Singer" is of course dated, but the chemistry of the two leads make that fact irrelevant. You can and do enjoy the movie because great chemistry coupled with great themes within a funny, moving story is never limited to its time and place.
Put me down for "The Wedding Singer," just don’t tell my sons. I don’t want to get kicked out of the boys club.

Shakes the Clown. Usually, his movies are so sophmoric that I can’t stand him. However, he’s funny when he’s dressed as a clown. Most of the time, he’s so stupid, it’s not funny.
The Wedding Singer would be my #2 Adam Sandler movie
